Showtime just released a damn fine cast list for its ‘Twin Peaks’ revival

Monica Belluci, Jim Belushi, Michael Cera, David Duchovny, Robert Forster, Jennifer Jason Leigh, David Koechner, Trent Reznor, Amanda Seyfried, Eddie Vedder and Naomi Watts all may not seem like they have a lot in common, but come next year, they will all have the same TV show on their resume.

Showtime released the full cast list for its upcoming “Twin Peaks” revival Monday, and it’s full of all of the above actors plus a lot more. In total, there’s 217 actors on the list.

News of a reboot of David Lynch’s groundbreaking 1990 TV show has been swirling for a while, but the new show has finally finished filming, according to Deadline.  The new episodes will pick up 25 years after the original series and will feature a mix of returning cast members and those listed above. Kyle MacLachlan, who played FBI Agent Dale Cooper in the original series, was the only previously confirmed actor on the list.

The big question, though, is if there will be an “X-Files” tie-in with the addition of Duchovny. One can dream. Just, hopefully not like this.

New episodes should premiere on Showtime sometime in 2017.
