Yes, it snows in Texas. Here’s proof, from Big Bend

You may have heard that it’s still winter in Texas. I say “heard” because the only indication of winter that most parts of Texas ever get during the colder months of the year is a few cold snaps and some allergy flare-ups.

But over the weekend at Big Bend National Park, it looked like a winter wonderland.

According to the San Antonio Express-News, the snow lasted from Friday night to mid-afternoon on Saturday. Jennette Jurado, public information officer for the park, which only sees snow three or four times a year, said it was a “rare and special” occasion.

“It’s very exciting for us,” she said.

Other hikers and campers were enthusiastic about the snow, too. Check out these photos of the snow from this weekend:

James Bond is in Austin, and he’s becoming quite the Texan

James Bond’s drink of choice is usually a martini, (shaken, not stirred), but when he comes to Austin, he prefers a Bloody Mary from Guero’s Taco Bar.

Pierce Brosnan has been filming a series for AMC in Central Texas this month, and in his downtime, he’s been exploring all the best that Austin and the surrounding areas has to offer.

According to his Instagram account, he’s been living it up on South Congress, at Guero’s:

And he even had time to play a round of golf at Barton Creek:

Brosnan is playing the lead in the upcoming AMC series “The Son,” a “multi-generational epic tale of the story of America’s birth as a superpower through the bloody rise and fall of one Texas family,” according to Deadline. The series is based on local author Philipp Meyer’s 2013 novel of the same name.

Brosnan replaced “Jurassic Park“‘s Sam Neill, who was originally cast in the role.

“The Son” is scheduled to air on AMC in April 2017.

Kim Kardashian West dethroned Texas native Beyonce as Queen of Instagram on Monday.

Tech Insider released the official figures and confirmed that Kim K’s 44,005,604 followers indeed surpassed Beyonce’s 43,935,648.

A close examination of the two accounts also revealed that while the two women post similar content (namely – selfies and cute photos of their daughters), Kardashian West posts with a higher frequency than Beyonce, according to Tech Insider.

Additionally, the publication noted that Kardashian West’s photo captions are often longer and more personal, while Beyonce keeps her captions short and sweet, or sometimes forgoes them entirely.

The Kardashian/Jenner clan have a thing for ruling the square-shaped photo app. This summer, Kendall Jenner beat out Kardashian West for most liked ‘gram. Her heart hair selfie surpassed Kim and Kanye’s wedding photo with over 3 million likes in June.

Kardashian West is now triumphant again, but she might not be reigning Instagram for long – pop star Taylor Swift is currently boasting 43,533,226 followers.
