By kicking off his campaign at the Virginia Christian college founded by the late evangelist Jerry Falwell, rather than a venue in his home state, Cruz is signaling he’ll court religious conservatives as well as small-government tea-party activists as he competes to become the lead anti-establishment candidate in the party contest. U.S. Senator from Texas and Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz has been called many things: alien, the Zodiac Killer, Lucifer in the flesh.

But he wants to make sure you know he’s running for human president — at least one website’s parody version of Cruz does.

Deno DeMartino created tedcruzforhumanpresident.com in March during one of his lunch breaks at work, he told Bustle.

DeMartino said Cruz looked like “a malfunctioning android” in his family video outtakes that Gawker compiled. So DeMartino made Cruz a website, to help convince the world that he actually is human.

The website is simple, with brief descriptions satirizing Ted Cruz’s attempts to be relatable to Americans — human Americans, specifically.

DeMartino also told Bustle the remaining presidential candidates, as well as a Cruz/Carly Fiorina ticket, terrified him. If they win, he said, there would be two non-humans in office.

He tweeted April 28 about the attention Ted Cruz for Human President has garnered.
