As with previous years, 2016 promises a good selection of new restaurants popping up throughout Austin. New you, new dining options! Chef Paul Qui will have a new offering with his highly-anticipated Otoko, a kaiseki-style Japanese restaurant. Your taco options are on the rise with new locations of El Chilito and Torchy’s. Veggie Heaven is back, Home Slice finds a second home and Hopdoddy will launch another location perfect for waiting in line for a burger.
Anne Hathaway doesn’t mind showing off her baby bump — but she’s going to do it on her terms. The actress took to Instagram to post a picture of herself, bikini-clad and on the beach, after she noticed she was being photographed by paparazzi. She said that if it was inevitable that a picture of her be published she would at least like it to be “an image that makes me happy.” Hathaway announced her pregnancy in November.
Happy 2016 to my beautiful Instafriends! So, posting a bikini pic is a little out of character for me, but just now while I was at the beach I noticed I was being photographed. I figure if this kind of photo is going to be out in the world it should at least be an image that makes me happy (and be one that was taken with my consent. And with a filter 🙂 Wishing you love, light and blessings for the year ahead! ⚡️🦄Annie🦄⚡️
It’s the cover-original-artist combination of our dreams. Celine Dion didn’t have to do much more than hint to her New Year’s Eve audience in Las Vegas what her next song choice would be to get them riled up. After casually saying, “I would like Adele to be part of our New Year’s Eve,” the Canadian songstresses’s began a moving rendition of Adele’s anthem “Hello.” It was just as powerful as you’d expect, and accordingly just as cry-worthy. Watch fan footage of the cover here.
Tonight will kick off a whole new season of the “Bachelor,” during which Austin will be locally represented by 23-year-old Olivia Caridi, one of the 28 women hoping to win the heart of bachelor Ben Higgins. The Austin native graduated from Texas Christian University and left Texas to work as a newscaster at WCYB-TV in Bristol, Va. If Caridi doesn’t take home the rose Texans still have a chance — she is one of four Texans participating in the competition.
Although Austin has plenty of new dining options headed its way in 2016, we will have to say goodbye to one sushi-truck staple. Renowned Kyōten sushi trailer will close officially on Jan. 21. But you won’t have to say goodbye to the sushi stylings of Chef Otto Phan forever. A brick and mortar take on the trailer Kyōten Sushiko will open in the Mueller development later this year.
