Keep Austin different from Portland! Unless it’s a doughnut thing… then alright. Portland’s favorite, weird doughnut shop, Voodoo Doughnut, has opened an Austin location at 212 E. Sixth St. Offering specialty doughnuts like the “Pot Hole,” “Grape Ape” and “Gay Bar,” the quirky pastry shop is sure to fit in just fine. At least for now, hours are 8 p.m. till sold-out. There’s just something comforting about a line and the looming threat that what you’re waiting for may be sold out by the time you make it to the front. Right?
During a recent Billboard interview Selena Gomez said she underwent chemotherapy after being diagnosed with lupus. The star denied rumors that she cancelled tour dates to attend rehab, instead saying she “locked [herself] away until [she] was confident and comfortable again.” You can read more from her interview, here. Gomez will make a tour stop at Austin’s Frank Erwin Center next year on her “Revival” tour.
Justin Bieber has lost another Belieber, and (like most of the others) this one could beat him in a fight. UFC champion Ronda Rousey claimed Bieber snubbed both the fighter and her younger sister when they asked for a picture at the Cannes Film Festival. “And he turned to me and goes, ‘I’ve already taken a billion pictures today, okay?’ And I said, ‘Yeah but’ … and he goes, ‘A billion,’ and walks off,” Rousey said of the encounter.
El Chilito is offering up some of everyone’s favorite kind of taco — a free taco! Additionally, you can expect some of everyone’s second favorite kind of taco — one shot out of a taco-cannon — at this year’s Fun Fun Fun Fest. The music and comedy festival has switched from its previous taco vendor, Tamale House East, to El Chilito, and will announce a complete list of food vendors at the restaurant’s 1623 E. Seventh St. location tomorrow at noon. The first one hundred people present will receive one free taco.
Victoria’s Secret would have undoubtedly chosen not to post this picture to the company’s Facebook timeline had it known what sort of backlash it would spark among users. Commentators made note of the glaring retouching errors in the picture. “Her left butt cheek is missing,” one user wrote. The picture has caused an especially strong response after competing lingerie retailer Aerie announced they would no longer retouch their pictures.
