Excited, but still a little unsure of how to prepare for 2015’s Austin City Limits Music Festival? We have answers to some of the questions you might be asking.
The countless options the fest offers are both a blessing and a curse. Don’t let scheduling conflicts get to you. Check out our suggestions of who to see (today’s picks include electro-funk band Cherub, Killers’ frontman Brandon Flowers and Austin favorite Gary Clark Jr.), but otherwise trust your taste and enjoy whichever act you wind up at. Don’t forget the fest will be live-streaming select sets on Red Bull TV.
And you thought finding that ticket was hard. If at all possible avoid the headache that trying to find a parking spot at ACL guarantees you. Instead consider hailing a rideshare, or taking a bus to an ACL shuttle stop. Look out for street closures, as they’re different than even last year.
Expect to see traditional ACL food-favorites like The Mighty Cone and P. Terry’s, but if you’re looking to try something a little newer check out Lamba’s Royal Indian Foods or Skull & Cakebones. You can check out the full list of vendors, here. No matter which you choose, don’t forget your cash!
The answer is very fashion. Make sure you check out today’s forecast before picking out that perfect fest outfit. Go ahead and take a peak at tomorrow’s and Sunday’s while you’re at it. Mild temperatures throughout the weekend with nights that dip as low as 61 degrees may warrant your ACL bag including a sweater — that you pull out at 2 p.m. when it’s 89 degrees and use to fan yourself with. Pretty sure you look pretty good? Partake in our #ACLHunt selfies competition and you could win a sweet “Tastes of Austin” swag bag stuffed with a selection of our favorite local treats.
Instead of recounting your favorite episode of Degrassi, review our imaginary (but emotional) interview with the rapper to get some ideas of just what you should say when your eyes finally meet… across that crowd of hundreds of people who got there before you.
Remember your ACL experience will be just as fun as you (and the sun’s glare) allow it to be!
