The Texas chain was pitted against 31 other regional and national chains in a recent bracket-style competition put on by Fast Company, a tech and lifestyle magazine.

When Fast Company first launched the competition, they focused on the east coast versus west coast rivalry, even making a video to go along with their poll in which west coast favorites rap battled with east coast favorites.

But readers quickly set the record straight, voting for Texas-born Whataburger in larger numbers than any other chain, including California favorite In-N-Out Burger and Virginia-born chain Five Guys.

What a champ.
